A group of friends head out of the city on their annual weekend retreat. With no social media, no cellphones and no internet allowed, they are left with one thing to do... look up from their screens and talk to each other. And when the liquor starts flowing and tongues start to loosen, no conversation is uneventful and no topic is off-limits. AT THE TABLE is a bold, timely new comedy that explores what happens when a marginalized minority finally speaks up and those with privilege find themselves challenged for the first time. Who is invited to the table for what topics, and what are we refusing to discuss at all?

AT THE TABLE was originally staged at the 44-seat Berger Park’s Coach House Theatre. Critical response, awards recognition and audience demand laid the foundation for a Summer remount, which moved the show to The Den Theatre’s 99-seat Mainstage, with the original cast intact.

Reviews for AT THE TABLE…

★ ★ ★ ★ One of the most riveting shows of the theater season and so juicy and apropos of life as currently lived that nobody in the house Sunday afternoon was anything other than rapt. This show has my highest recommendation.
— Chris Jones, Chicago Tribune
★ ★ ★ ★ Director Spenser Davis and a sterling cast elevate the material to impressive heights ... some of the finest storefront ensemble acting in recent memory.
— Kris Vire, Time Out Chicago
Subtle and brilliant ... blisteringly funny ...
— Dan Jakes, Chicago Reader
Highly Recommended! One of the best shows you’re likely to see in 2017 ... Definitely a must-see ...
— Alex Huntsberger, Newcity Stage
★ ★ ★ ★ Easily the best and most necessary play I’ve seen this year... confrontational, provocative and unforgettable.
— Lauren Whalen, Chicago Theater Beat
Such an ensemble, they irresistibly suggested to me the early days of Steppenwolf ... The same attack, the same ease within the ensemble, the same take-no-prisoners aesthetic in choosing material.
— Kelly Kleiman, Dueling Critics
